I mean this guy managed to combine the shock make up of Manson and the angst of Jonathan Davis to form probably the crappiest band of the entire mall-core explosion. Luckily for most of us, mall-core died. So now what does Dez do ? What’s the next big trend ? Metal core. So Dez gets rid of the make up, gets a few more tattoos and starts to front a band called Devildriver.
To be fair to the band, “The Fury Of Our Maker’s Hand” [2005] is not a bad album. It’s predictable in its rehashing of At The Gates, Slayer and Testament but then most metal core bands are doing that. Fafara’s vocals are decent enough and the band are quite competent. “Grinfucked” and the title song manage to raise their heads above the mediocrity but when this whole metal core scene dies out like you know its going to, “The Fury Of Our Maker’s Hand” will die along with it.
This is not a bad album but not essential by any stretch of the imagination.
