The band markedly improves what the hoardes of recent Swedish sleaze rock bands have been putting out of late. The songwriting is superior, heavier, raunchier, rawer, more evolved and at a higher level of quality than those little blonde dolls. The playing too is better, guitar tones fatter, vocal lines are catchier, drumming is smarter - a case where a cock rock drummer actually plays an important role instead of being told to shut up and play straight beats by the big shot producer. Best of all, the riffs and the ideas flow in a rather genuine and natural manner throughout this six song EP. The song Saint Routine sounds like Extreme's When I'm President when it begins, and Fear of Getting Off starts off sounding like Sabbath's Zero the Hero as played by Steve Tyler & Co before they both become their own beasts. We generally know their ideas, their sounds, we're quite familiar with their moves and how they roll, yet we find ourselves singing along to these songs, because they're so fucking well done. The band tells me their latest recordings following the release of this EP are actually a lot better, which is great news (as this EP itself is a huge improvement from the songs I'd heard on their MySpace before this came by mail). I look forward to a full length and wish them a lot of hype surrounding them in the near future.
