The legendary Autopsy are back after a 15 year absence from the death metal scene. Reifert, Coralles and Cutler reunited late last year to record two new songs in the studio and put out this limited edition single. The single will be released as a Vinyl only 7'' limited to 1000 copies although I'm sure Peaceville will find ways to milk these two songs for all they're worth in the coming months.

The vinyl consists of two songs, Horrific Obsession and Feast of the Graveworm. Horrific Obsession starts off sounding more like Reifert's Abscess before the song slows down to pure old school Autopsy tempo and crawls its way to a conclusion that can only be classified as doom-death. Feast of the Graveworm starts pretty much like a lurching crawling zombie before picking up speed and tearing through with a classic Autopsy solo in the middle of the song.

There really is no room for complaint with these two songs. The sound and feel is of classic Autopsy and the quality of these two songs is undeniable. Reifert sounds great, Coralles and Cutler sound like they always have except that the solo on Feast... seems to have come from guitarists who might have improved a bit since their early days and sound a bit more restrained than they used to.

I'm very happy to report that this is basically the same Autopsy that we all know and love. Roll on to a full fledged reformation and hopefully another full length album. In the meantime, excuse the salivating.
