1990 saw Exodus finally make the move to a major label in the form of Capitol Records. With regards to the line up, Tom Hunting made way for John Tempesta on the drum stool. A major line-up did not really change anything in the Exodus camp and the method was still blistering Thrash Metal.

Album opener and title song Impact Is Imminent is a killer song to start things off. Souza sounds particularly menacing and Tempesta's manic drumming greatly enhances the song. The guitar duo of Tom Holt and Rick Hunolt continue to lay down those awesome Thrash Metal guitar riffs. I would consider these two to be the foremost guitar duo in Thrash Metal and no praise can really do justice to their talent. Case in point being another awesome lead guitar tradeoff on AWOL.

The Lunatic Parade is a personal favourite and while not being as fast as Exodus usually are, it is a very heavy song. Other highlights include Within The Walls Of Chaos, Only Death Decides, Objection Overruled and Heads They Win (Tails You Loose).  Thrash Under Pressure thrashes out of the speakers like nobody's business, invoking the spirit of Bonded By Blood, this makes for the perfect album closer.

The one thing that amazes me about Exodus is that the band just seemed to keep going on and on releasing quality album after quality album. The law of averages never really seemed to catch up with this band. Impact Is Imminent cannot hold a candle to the first three albums but it is still a very good Thrash Metal album that has aged quite nicely.
