ENT start the proceedings with the ferocious “Religion Is Fear” and it is immediately apparent that this is old school dirty as fuck grindcore. Constant blast beats, a thick rumbling distorted bass, a vocalist who can lacerate your ear drums and guitars that have a certain chainsaw like aggression to them. ENT get to do five songs on this split with not one of the songs exceeding the 2 minute mark. While ENT has shown a tendency to mix death metal parts with their original grindcore sound on a few of their albums, here the band are playing pure grindcore. Think of Defecation’s “Purity Dilution” for a reference point. Super stuff.

Sweden’s Driller Killer blew my head off with their crust core sound a while back with their album “Fuck The World.” Since then though, successive releases have seen the band fail to live up to the intensity of that sonic juggernaut. On this split, the band runs through 3 songs and I’m very pleased to say that these three songs are the best Driller Killer songs I’ve heard in a while. “Yesterdaze Juice” sounds like a cross between The Exploited, Motorhead and Discharge and if that sounds like your scene then Driller Killer is THE band for you. Angry, chaotic punk thrash ‘n roll, crust core, hardcore, crossover, call it what you will. This is pissed off, heavy as fuck music. “Confessions of a Fucking Breed” and “Razorbladin’ Through” are the two other songs on this split and both songs maintain the aggression. While “Razorbladin’ Through” has a slightly mid-tempo riff and actually sounds heavier for it, “Confessions…" is a sharp short blast of punk aggression and metal precision.

A short review in keeping with the brevity of this release. I have to say that this is one of the finest slabs of extremity I’ve heard in a while and all in just under 17 minutes.
