Office 2007= Lousy Unintuitive Piece of Shit 2 Years, 11 Months ago

Arrrrgh. Fucking cunt software. Before this week is out, I'm taking this piece of crap off my machine and reverting to Office 2003. This has been immensely lousy and frustrating and seems calculated to increase incidence of Repetitive Stress Injuries with its disappearing menus and impossible to find convenient options. I'm sure it can be configured to be more convenient but I frankly CANNOT be arsed. Especially when a much better programme is just a few minutes of installation away.

All the corporate types really preferred 2007 and they were intensive users. That's all they knew well and it was their primary tool to bullshit everyone well. I think it depends on what you want to do. I only use it for simple stuff and OpenOffice 3.x is good enough for that.

Upgraded because up to 2003 there was a significant improvement in every edition in terms of robust spelling and grammar checks and formatting options. But this is just totally gay.

Office 2003 + Windows XP is the best combo for me.

I use office XP at home and 2003 at work. I dont think "corporate types" prefer 2007. People are forced to use 2007 because of EULA issues and that microsoft does not support older versions of software. Open office is a good alternative.

Damn, I like Office 2007. Open Office is a bloody pain in the ass though. Could never get comfortable on it.

I speak from my experience working with numerous sales, marketing and project manager types, and nothing more.
Plus once a few in your work-circle have migrated (I say migrated and not upgraded), the rest will have to follow suit because of the new openxml format and the compatibility issues because of it. 2007 was a major overhaul and MS brought in radical changes in the UI. I know total computer dumbasses learning it in a matter of days and then loving it. These guys don't know shit about computers it's ridiculous, this is probably a case of Ravi dismissing this without RTFM-ing.
I'm all for OpenOffice and the latest one is the best yet and the openxml compatibility is fairly ok, but if my work mainly involved using the office suite (I'm glad it doesn't), I'd much rather have the windows+office07 combo.

Arre, but what compatibility issues? You can still save the document in any format you want no? Anyway, I think power point and excel are way better on this one. Word doesn't really make much of a difference one way or the other.

Yeah, it's fine as long you're doing the same things you've always been doing with office. But I noticed many of the pptx template/comments/formatting weren't showing properly if saved in 2003/xp format. Same deal with the others, from what I heard from the hardcore users.

I love Office 2007. It is more intuitive and easy to use than 2004 , at least for casual users like me. Open Office has troubles saving files in word format; I have experienced loss of data from files. I prefer word 2007 to any other word processor.

My 2 bits on this:
MSO2k7 interface...different from every other office software. The menus are totally mouse-driven, so if you use a mouse for formatting and shit, the layout is more streamlined, once you got used to it (you can use KB commands from previous office versions but you won't see the actual menu unfolding).
My main issue with 2007 is that even if you save a document in a previous format (97-2003), the formatting, especially in PowerPnt changes dramatically (I've had instances of Super/Sub script being interpreted as Font Color Change) The interoperability between Office 2007 and OpenOffice (which is what I use at Home) is total shit.
