i was thinking of doing that but making it more of a plot summary than a "review".

i'm curious to know how much the plot and character construction is likely to deviate in the movie adaptation.

Well, there's no giant squid and the ending is different but apart from that its supposed to be very faithful to the book. :p

much thanks for the link, neel.

i'll give the movie a skip. :P

there's no way that there can be an absolutely faithful adaptation to the book, considering these are two very different media. i was looking more at whether the plot in a different setting conveys similar messages and if characters have similar representations without going ott with the "humanising".

@ and hell.

This was in fact one of things that HPL was not about. He often whined about how conventional horror literature was stuck in this religious (Christian?) faith phase with good & evil, god & satan, and wanted to tap a vein of horror that would not be based on these notions.

On the topic of Lovecraft, all you fans have gotta play Call of the Cthulhu : Dark Corners of the Earth by Bethesda Softworks. It takes elements from several Lovecraft stories and weaves it into a very immersive and surprisingly difficult game.
