Hm. I might have to revisit this band yet again. All my attempts to get into em so far have given me a little more than around half an hour of solid sleep that generally ends as soon as the album gets over.

Thanks Chacko.
@ Ravi, I know a few people who this band is boring but the early eps had a lot more stuff happening in the songs so maybe that'd be a good place to revisit the band.

How can anybody like Panopticon and NOT like Oceanic/ITAoT?

I'm not really into their earlier EP's, it's pretty much like deciphering a bad signal transmission, but yeah they're good once in a while. An alternative would be to stick your head into a beehive and then pull it out and hear the buzzing of the bees as they pile all over your honey-combed head. Anyway I agree Oceanic and In the Absence of Truth go into the same stable as Panopticon. I think why most of you don't like the band is because of your obvious expectations of blazing '80's solos or Suffocation-era drumming. It only makes sense to sit through the albums like a dull zombie however deranged that might sound and then the arousal should happen in a matter of time.

It was first love for me and Isis. I couldn't get enough of 'em after I heard 'The Beginning And The End'.

Yeah. They're definately one of the better conversation killers.

Not quite @ Laddu - In spite of my avowed love for flashy guitar solos, I realise they'd sound downright silly in the context of a band like Isis. I just think other bands (Pelican for instance) do this style a lot better.
