Over the last week or so...
Agrimonia - Host of the Winged Really enjoying the crust fueled doom metal that this band is doing and while it occasionally strays into death metal territory it's awesome from start to finish.
Drudkh - Handful of Stars Slightly odd album in that there's maybe two songs here that can be called black metal and the rest of it is just extreme metal that seems to owe a significant debt to 70s prog and maybe even kraut rock. Overall, liking this album a lot and I think its a good deal better than the last one.
Man's Gin - Smiling Dogs Solo album from the guy in Cobalt and this is some really interesting stuff. I guess you could call it dark folk because it sounds like it but there's traces of the blues, country, post metal and a whole bunch of feel in these songs. Not as dark as I was expecting and I'm guessing a lot more listens will happen.
Spiritual Beggars - Reurn to Zero Just boring on first listen and too much awesome music to bother with this again for a while.
Kings of Frog Island - III This one's really growing on me. About halfway into the album, the band just takes off into psychedelic rock and leaves behind most of the desert rock sound for a bluesy psychedelic feel and it works really well. Some great songs on here.
Swans - My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky The more I listen to this, the more I feel like this could have just been another Angels of Light album. The album opener No Words/No Thoughts sounds like early Swans but it's also the weakest song on the album with its noisy mechanical crawl simply serving as a reminder of the awesome power of this band. Apart from it, the rest of the album sounds like the logical successor to the last Angels of Light album "We Are Him." It's still a fantastic album with Eden Prison, Inside Madeline and You Fucking People Make Me Sick being among the finest songs Gira's done and overall an album well worth shelling out for.
Lords of Bukake - desorden Y rencor Really good and heavy as fuck sludge.
Dragonauta - Cruz Inveritad This album's also really grown on me. Reminds me a bit of Church of Misery and the riffs and songs really stick on my head. Like a heavier, fuzzier Pentagram.

Karl Sanders - Saurian Meditation: I noticed GxMx listing this ever so often in last months' thread. Thanks for the recco! Brilliant!
Judgement Day - Dark Opus: If you can look beyond 'violin & cello', its better than average metal instrumentals. If you can't, then you'll still be going "FFAACKK!!! How did he make that sound!" throughout

Ah. Heard Human by Death this morning. Chuck's lyrics were terribly preachy and silly but what awesome music.

Helmet - Seeing Eye Dog The first two songs on this album promised plenty and then the rest of it just annoyed the shit out of me.
Accept - Blood of the nations heavy fucking metal! \m/
Man's Gin - Smiling Dogs This is excellent stuff. Alt-country meets the blues, rock and even the occasional pop melody to come up with an album that's a bit difficult to classify but I'll stick with the dark folk theory.

^^Yeah, I know. I think I'm liking this solo album a bit more than I liked Gin. The last 3 songs on the album are fantastic. Also, if anyone's interested there's a terrific Dave Wyndorf interview that has Sean Yseult playing interviewer. Long and rambling but a great listen if you're a fan of either band and also an unreleased Bill Laswell reworking of Look To Your Orb For Warning. Very cool.
