West Coast Mix Terrific gangsta rap compilation from the guys at "a fist in the face of god" blog. Starts with Ice T's Colors and closes with Ice Cube and Dr.Dre's incendiary collaboration Natural Born Killaz. Old school, angry, violent rap.
Crash Test Dummies - Songs of the Unforgiven Morose and sparse acoustic songs with no hint of cheer or even a tiny smile.
Agrimonia - Host of the Winged Getting quite addicted to this one.

Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier: Couldn't wait, so bought the CD yesterday, and am already on my fourth spin since the morning. It helped to have heard the entire album online before the purchase - it was easier to access, and the album grew on me with each listen. IMO, though Smith & Bruce returned to the band, Maiden never went back to their 80s sound, save a few songs here and there - and while this proggy approach and direction may not sit down with all the Maidenheads, it works for me. Have always enjoyed their epics - right from Rime to Sign to the Clansman to Paschendale, Dance of Death, etc. This album adds When The Wild Wind Blows and Starblind to that list. Its not a perfect record, but it didn't make me yawn at all.
Now to get an import. My local manufactured CD has already started to skip.

Heard this on the way in to work. It seemed fairly decent if not particularly exciting or inspired. The Sneap production is kinda flat and polite sounding.

Pestilence - Consuming Impulse: Maybe i've got too much on my mind, but this album wasn't what i was looking for atm. That's not to say it was bad, i just didn't have the ears for it. Will give it a re-listen soon. Loved the last two tracks, and Chronic Infection though.

Black Mountain - Wilderness Heart New album from these Canadians while it's still channeling 70s rock, there's a distinct lack of the psychedelic sounds of the debut and this comes with a slight pop and mainstream feel. Pretty good on first listen.
Legen Beltza - Need to Suffer This is a really good thrash album. Mixing the riffing of Annihilator with the energy of German thrash, lots of great riffing and some great songs.
Swans - My father... Awesome album. Easily the most accessible Swans album ever made and sounds mostly like a cross between The Great Annihilator and Love of Life with Gira's Angels of Light stuff. The last 5 songs on this album are truly spectacular.
NP: Drudkh - Handful of Stars The first two songs on this album are awesome. If the rest of the album is as good then this might me better than the one they put out last year.

Leak da. it's releasing only on September 20th. It's awesome.
NP: Kings of Frog Island - III
Looks like a rock n roll Sunday. This is some more fuzzy bluesy psych rock but with more balls and less QotSA this time around.
