Heard Souls of Black A good if not exceptional album that's seriously hampered by hideously bad production. Everything sounds thin flat and underpowered. Also Billy was neck deep in his "Main bhi james Hetfield" phase.
Pagano by South American (i think Puerto Rican) doom band Dantesco. They sing mainly in Spanish. This is one of those albums where while you can definitely sense the potential of the band, the album just doesn't come together quite as well as you'd have liked it to. They are apparently going to have a new one out this year and I'll certainly check that out.

.really? i never knew that!also i always felt Souls.. as well as Practice..had some really great sound and production for that time, maybe your comparing it to all the newer plastic era bands and finding it a bit blunt!

There's a world of difference in the production of Practice What You Preach and Souls of Black - I'm shocked if you think they sound the same. PWYP has great kick in the jaw production while still sounding raw and ballsy. This album just sounds muddled and awful.

Chumbawamba - ABCDEFG The new album continues in the vein of The Boy Bands Have Won with most of the songs taking on a light catchy folk rock feel. The acapella is done beautifully and the band seem more angry on this one with a fair few songs taking a reactionary protest approach in the lyrics. Overall a bit more focused than the last one and I'm liking this a lot.

Don't know if this is the right section, but just watched Megadeth. The lineup was Exodus, Testament and Megadeth. I was caught up at work so made it in late. Showed up at the venue without tickets and some guy just gave us free tickets. Weird! Testament were hella tight, but no Skolnick.
Anyway, Megadeth was why I went. I don't keep up with metal news, so I was blown away when Dave Ellefson made it to the stage. I had no idea he was back in the band. Megadeth were celebrating the 20th anniversary of Rust in Peace and they played the ENTIRE album in order! Every single song! Even Poison Was The Cure! They were unbelievably tight. I've seen some videos where Mustaine is just shit, but they were ultra professional tonight. Chris Broderick can't write a solo to save his life, but holy fuck! What a player! He plays Marty's stuff way better than Marty ever did (Marty really stinks live).
Other than the Rust in Peace album, they played Trust, Headcrusher, In my darkest hour, Symphony of Destruction, Wake up dead. Mustaine was bitching about Obama at some point. He always sounds like a jackass when he talks. They ended with Peace Sells and then Mustaine did the Holy Wars solo and ending again.

Burzum - Belus Never been a big fan of the man but this sounded pretty good.
Rotting Christ - AEALO Excellent album. Really catchy songs and overall liking this one a lot.
High on Fire - Snakes for the Divine Awesome. Nothing else to say about this.

Sounds an awesome time, Adip. Too bad about missing Exodus - they should've torn it up live. Or maybe not, with the present lineup.

Heard Turbulence by Steve Howe. Great early morning music. Very very upbeat with some scorching playing by Howe and some fairly energetic drumming by Bill Bruford. Not in the league of the superlative and sublime the Steve Howe Album but still a very very worthwhile addition to my collection of his solo albums.
Since I can't get enough of Howe, I also spun The Ritual by Yes from Tales from the Topographic Oceans This is one of my all time favourite prog albums; one that I actually have to physically restrain myself from proselytising it to everyone I know since most people find it super boring. Anyway, The Ritual probably has the single best guitar solo in the history of progressive rock.

Playing latest haul, an autographed copy of On This Perfect Day by Guilt Machine. Arjen and co sent this out within a week. Am very impressed. Also this was one of my favourite progressive rock releases last year; one that really benefits from the upgrade to CD.
