Interesting, and refreshingly non-ironic comments from Moore. I can totally see how you could draw parallels between what he plays and the BM scene.

Interview's alright, but it's kind of annoying how often "black metal" is used only to signify Norse-style stuff. Also I saw a picture of this guy posing (perhaps in more ways than one) with that Swedish Death Metal book that came out recently, so his "I dun like dethmetl" statement is... well, it's probably true. Uh.

He didn'y say he 'din like dethmetl' (interesting spellings, did they take you long to make up?) so much as that while he has listened to it, the genre relies more on technical rigour, which if of less interest to him than the chaotic aspect of BM. Which preference actually makes sense in the light of his own musical output, possibly a better source of information in the matter than press photos.

Sonic Youth's music is something that really irritates the fuck out of me but this fellow's interviews are almost always a good read and this was no exception.
